Meet Tara M. Moore
Clinical Psychology Research Associate
United States Marine turned teacher turned clinical psychology researcher. Although my background is far from conventional, there has always been a common thread guiding me: the desire to help others. If you want to make a difference in someone's life you must first educate them by providing the tools they need to be successful. Then enable their growth, empowering them to take ownership and modify those tools as needed to fit their individuality. Expansion becomes inevitable.

Educate. Enable. Expand.
Bridging healing practices and clinical research
Research Interests

African Americans
A population that continues to be underserved in the community and underrepresented in clinical resarch studies.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
The golden standard of treatment for many disorders, but has some limitations when addressing systematic oppression that marginalized communities endure while fighting for change.
Somatic Therapy
A burgeoning field that has been shown to be an effective form of therapy for treatment resistant patients.
Racial Trauma

Stress and trauma as a result of racism, racial discrimination, and/or microaggressions impact the physical and mental health of countless minorities, worsening depression and PTSD.
Depression
While mood disorders has garnered a lot attention, research in the treatment of depression appears to have dwindled given the complexity of its hetereogenity.
PTSD
Racial truama can exacerbate existing symptoms or even lead to PTSD. As current events elicit safety concerns for several at-risk groups, interventions and healing practices are a necessity.
